Getting to Side is relatively easy; budget airlines leave regularly from a variety of regional British airports from as little as £99 per person, arriving at Antalya in Turkey. Transfer from Antalya takes under an hour and can be arranged with a local company; their drivers are helpful, honest and usually English speaking. We can arrange for them to pick you up and return you to the airport at the end of your stay for £60.

Car hire is also available from a variety of companies at Antalya airport. Roads are relatively fast and suffer little congestion. However taking it easy as you accustomise yourself to local drivers is highly recommended. In Side itself the roads are almost empty and Scooters are a good way of getting about.

The Resort

Side lies on the southern coast of Turkey. It is a World Heritage site with stunning scenery and lots to do. Side is built on a Peninsula lined with golden sandy beaches. It has an attractive waterfront with restaurants and old houses overlooking the sailing ships that tie up during the day.

The town is compact so it is not necessary to have a car as you take in the harbour, beaches, bars and shops. All are an easy stroll from one another.

Side is dominated by a large site of ancient antiquities. Here you can wander FREE around a site in which Caesar and Cleopatra did their courting. The huge columns that remain tell of a flourishing wealthy town in the 7th Century. It even has the remains of an early 24 seat public lavatory! There are bathhouses, bygone slave markets, aqueducts, a basilica and Episcopal Palace to take in for those in search of history.

Beaches are within a few minutes walk from the tourist shops which spring up around the town. They are long and sandy not shingle like many on Turkeys coast. Simple beach bars and water sports do not detract from a relaxed family orientated experience.

For the adventurous amongst you there is white water rafting inland. A full brochure of local activities and amenities is available in the Duplex.

Local shopping

Within three minutes walk and visible from the apartment isthe attractively named Bim Market. It sells bread, milk, dried and tinned goods. They do not sell alcohol so you will need to venture further to slake your thirst.

Across the road from the Bim Market is a fruit and veg shop and off licence rolled into one. Between the two shops you should be able to get most of what you need.

There is a Supermarket within 20 minutes walk or a 5 minute drive. It is situated across a very quiet dual carriageway. Inside there is a plethora of leather goods and other tourist shops. For those who want a taste of the true Turkey Manavgat is a thriving town with a market and less inflated tourist prices.
