Booking Conditions
- Bookings and Payment. Provisional booking requests may be made by email (jane.lee.qc@hotmail.com); by telephone (+1 514 262 4623); or by fax (+1 514 878 7666). We will confirm availability as soon as possible and send you a confirmation by post upon receipt of which we would ask that you pay a deposit 25% of the holiday value. The balance must be paid within 8 weeks of the start of the holiday. If the holiday starts within 8 weeks of the booking date please send 100% of the holiday value.
- Cancellations. We strongly recommend that you take out your own cancellation insurance. If a deposit or a balance is not paid when due then this will be treated as a guest cancellation of the booking. If you cancel after the deposit has been paid then we will retain the deposit whilst we try to re-let the property. If the cottage is re-let then we will repay the deposit plus any balance paid less £50.00 for administration. If, however, we are unable to re-let the property then you will be liable for the full amount of the holiday less £50.00. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to cancel then all the money you have paid will be refunded; but that is the limit of our liability.
- Arrival and Departure Times. The weekly change-over date is Friday. You and your guests may arrive after 4.00 p.m. at the start of your holiday and are asked to vacate by 10.00 a.m. on your departure date so that the cottage can be prepared for the next visitors. Details of how to get to the cottage and where to collect the keys will be sent to you with your booking notice. Please note that the keys will be available for collection no later than 10.00 p.m. on the arrival date (except by prior agreement).
- Smoking and Pet Policy. We ask that guests do not smoke in the house. We are sorry but no pets are allowed.
- Number of Guests. The number of persons using the cottage is not to exceed six. Children are welcome.
- Contents. You should check the cottage inventory on arrival and should report any items that are missing or damaged. You will be responsible for replacing any items that are found missing or damaged after your stay that were not reported.
- Heating. The cottage is centrally heated by thermostatically controlled hot-water radiators. Please use the central thermostat located on the first-floor landing to turn the heating on by setting it to 21º C (70º F). We ask you not to adjust the individually-set radiator thermostats and to turn the central thermostat down to 15º C (60º F) on leaving. The combination boiler that provides heating and hot water is powered by gas.
- Shower
. The shower works well but its operation has confused some guests. To turn the shower on and off, use the lever - not the tap: this controls the temperature and if turned excessively will break (as some guests have discovered!).
- Electricity and Gas
. Our rates are inclusive of all electricity and gas charges.
- Use of the fireplace. You are welcome to use the fireplace in the living room. You must ensure that this is properly used and all appropriate safety measures are taken. The fireguard for the fireplace must be used at all times and the cottage should not be left unattended whilst the fire is lit. Please be particularly careful if your guests include children. Coal for the fireplace is provided and we ask that you remove the ashes and sweep the grate before vacating the property. An ash bucket is provided.
- Linen and Towels. Bed linen and towels are provided.
- Telephone
. There is a telephone provided for incoming calls and for emergency use. We do not mind if the telephone is used for making outgoing calls but we ask that you record your usage and leave an appropriate contribution to the cost. We rely upon your honesty!
- Safety and Security. Your safety and comfort are our main concerns. We have tried to ensure that you and your guests are safe whist staying in our cottage. Fire detectors are located in the living room, on the first floor and in the top-floor master bedroom. Carbon monoxide detectors are fitted on the landing outside the bedrooms and in the master bedroom. Please do not disconnect these or remove the batteries. We suggest you test these when you arrive by pressing the test button on each unit. Please let us know immediately if any of the units are not working or if the batteries need replacing. There is a fire extinguisher in the master bedroom and the kitchen which is also equipped with a fire blanket.
- Insurance. We suggest that you take out appropriate insurance for your personal effects if these are not covered by your own house policy.
- Our Liability. Whilst we have taken all reasonable steps to ensure your safety we accept no liability whatsoever for any injury, loss or damage howsoever caused that may be incurred by or to you; or any member of your party; or your guests, whether such injury, loss or damage relates to property or person .
