Hayfield is a pretty village with stone built cottages and the River Sett weaving through the centre. Feeding the local duck population is a popular pastime. It is home to an abundance of good pubs - six in the village, ten within a mile! There are several excellent eating options also food shops, a chemist, fish & chips and a Post Office plus two artist studios all in Hayfield centre. The village moulds itself around the central cricket pitch where the sport is taken seriously and matches are played regularly throughout the season. There is a children's playground with swings/slides etc. plus a skateboard area also a tennis court. Hayfield well dressings take place in July, there are also sheep dog trials in September and the village holds a May Queen festival.

Walking gentle, walking strenuous, mountain biking easy, mountain biking difficult, road cycling with lots of hills, Sett Valley Trail family cycling, rock climbing gritstone, rock climbing limestone, this giant playground is all on your doorstep as Hayfield is at the gateway of the Peak District National Park. Kinder Scout and the moors around form one of the popular sections of the walking Pennine Way, which snakes its path along the backbone of England. Easier family walks can be taken up around Twenty Trees , Carr Meadow and the Kinder Reservoir areas.

A little further afield Peak National Park attractions abound - you will be spoilt for choice with things to do and see in the area. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the quaint villages of Eyam, Ashford and towns of Bakewell and Matlock are all within an hour to drive. There are numerous traffic free trails for walking and cycling. Whether you enjoy exciting activity holidays or a relaxing break in glorious scenery, you are sure to find what you are looking for at this location.

  • The Staffordshire Potteries with factory shops.
  • The Museum of Childhood Gullivers World, Warrington.
  • Alton Towers for a day visit should you need to treat the kids to even more action.
